"These soldiers get their fill of chocolate," said Mary McNulty of Operation Home Baked. "We fill the box as heavy as we can with everything we can stick in there for them."

Last May, Mary McNulty of Waukesha was 10 years into quietly coordinating a small group of volunteers who baked birthday cakes for a handful of women's shelters. For some time, she had been talking with her volunteer partner, Marilyn Pritchard of Elm Grove, about the need to expand the You Are Special program.
